The flowers on this page were in bloom along the powerlines on either side of Shelton Avenue (Rt. 108) in early June of 2000.   Photos by Teresa Gallagher.

Maple Leaf Viburnum.  Common shrub in the Shelton Lakes region, both along the powerlines and often seen in bloom deep in the shady woods.

Field Hawkweed.  Very common along the powerlines, growing in large patches.

Pink Corydalis.
Starts blooming in mid-May on Oak Valley Trail, still in bloom in June.

About 1 foot tall, delicate,
fairly common.

Sulfur Cinquefoil. Much larger than common cinquefoil, and the yellow flowers are much more pale. This flower is more common in late June, after common cinquefoil has stopped flowering.

Wild Rose.  There is also a large pink species that blooms a few weeks later (see page 4).

Yarrow.  North of 108, starting mid-June.

Wood Sorrel.  Next time I'll try and focus. The leaves look like clover.
